I personally think that this would be awesome. But make it so the picture that you upload doesn't appear.

If this is done there should be a mandatory pop-up or something that has the user include information about the reference work like URL or original artist's name to prevent ripping, which has become a huge issue on this site.

also if we could have some sort of resizing feature to allow bigger images to work on a smaller canvas, that would be awesome.

This is a very good idea but the picture should have a link to the original picture and shouldn't be entered into contests.

I registered to request this feature. I've been looking everywhere for a pixel editor that allows you to set a reference image as the background, at a different scale than the canvas.

In many cases, the images I want to use for reference might be sketches or photos I made myself, so one shouldn't assume that plagiarism is the only use for this feature.

Well you know you can actually do it on Microsoft Excel! Though PIQ has more features and is online and stuff. Simply make the cells in Excel smaller into squares. Do this by clicking the little square on the top left corner of the Excel sheet. The square has a little triangle on it. This way you can resize all cells at once. To get a background, you have to go to this set background thing that I forgot where it is. Upload your picture and trace! I got this off from the Internet and it has helped me, and I am sure it can help you too. If you print out your picture, the background won't show up. If you want to put it onto PIQ, you will need to copy it onto the canvas.

Hope this helps you, and everyone else! :)

That's an interesting idea. I'll have to try it out some time, thanks. It seems a little needlessly complicated for something that should be a standard feature of pixel programs though,
